Slew South arrived at Remember Me on 6/17/23. She is a 7 year old thoroughbred mare who last raced 9 months ago in Louisiana. Her trainer stated that he gave her to a man who was to bred her to a paint stallion and raise paint babies. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. We are not sure who had her since she left the track since the trainer won't tell, but one thing is for sure, he should not own horses.
Slew South will be in our ICU quarantine for 30 days. She will have her temperature taken twice a day and will be on a diet designed for several malnourished horses. As bad as she looks, we are hopeful that she will make a full recovery.
Slew South is not available for adoption at this time. She is going need several months of rehabilitation and lots of groceries. We will post updates frequently on her progress.
If you would like to help us while she is here we are accepting donations for her care.
